Dr. Eugene McGowan - Along with being a lifetime a Dr. Eugene McGowan - Along with being a lifetime activist, McGowan was the first Black school psychologist in the State of Delaware. McGowan facilitated research on standardized testing and the inadequacy of it when measuring intellectual capabilities of Black children. He lived a life filled with determination for change and equality.
Beatrice “Bebe” Coker - As a community activist fo Beatrice “Bebe” Coker - As a community activist for more than 50 years in the state of Delaware, Coker focuses on addressing issues revolving around education and racial justice. Through using her work in social services, street-level activism, and poetry and theatre, Coker works to create a more welcoming and desirable community within Delaware every day.

Winter brings challenges and this past weekend was Winter brings challenges and this past weekend was a big one. We wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff of the Meals On Wheels programs who once again went above and beyond for our senior neighbors in Delaware. Seniors were given emergency meals ahead of the storm in case of disruptions. Staff were back at work on Tuesday to reach out to volunteer drivers and seniors to let them know meal deliveries would be restarted as soon as possible. Committed volunteers were back delivering meals by Wednesday.
