While Bouche d’Or may be sweet\, it is balanced with bright acidity and crispness. This wine can stand on its own as a dessert wine and also makes a great accompaniment to a cheese course. Hard\, salty cheeses like Manchego and aged Gouda pair quite successfully. Less-sweet desserts like lemon meringue tart\, grilled peaches or apple galette are also excellent choices. The lush vibrant palate is incredibly versatile and hypnotizing. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCOCKTAIL \nLavender Lemonade\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFIRST COURSE \nSouth African Sauvignon Blanc \nA new world style of Sauvignon Blanc. The wine has intense aromas of gooseberries\, tropical fruit and sweet-grapefruit with a core of minerality. The excellent natural acidity creates balance to the concentrated\, rich mouth-filling texture. Post fermentation lees contact of 4 months\, stirred up once a week to enhance mouthfeel and concentration. The wine is bottled unfiltered and sediment may occur. This wine has too many awards to list and is not imported into the US. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nSECOND COURSE \nElton Vineyard Pinot Noir \nThe bouquet opens with notes of mixed red and black fruits\, earth and barrel spice. On the palate the wine expresses beautiful movement and dark fruit flavors of blackberry\, currant and plum accented by minerality\, cedar\, anise and bergamot. The wine features a broad palate\, velvety tannins\, balancing acidity and lingering finish. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHIRD COURSE \nDonati Family Reserve Syrah 2018 \nMocha and oak dominate the medium Complex finish. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nVance Kershner\n\nDessert \nDe Krans Cape Vintage Reserve\, 2015 Port Blend \nThe 2015 Cape Vintage Reserve received an excellent rating of 96 points and was judged the Best Overall Fortified Wine of the Year in South Africa. Tim Atkin\, who tasted over 1700 South African wines describes it as “Rich\, dense and hedonistically perfumed. It’s dark\, plush and very sweet with beautifully judged tannins and rich bramble and blueberry fruit. Drink between 2025 and 2040. This wine has too many awards and medals to mention. This is a small production wine and has very limited distribution in the United States.\n\n\n\n  \n\n  \n\nMarquee Sponsor\n \n\nVirtual Sponsor\n \n\nLead Sponsor\n Vance Kershner \n\nMarquee Communications Sponsors\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\nVineyard Connoisseur\n\n\n\n\nDr. Jonathan & Cara Burke\n\n\nYoung Conaway Stargatt & Taylor\, LLP\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrand Wine Master\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVaughn and Heather Hardin\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\nMaster Sommelier\n\n\n\n\nDonati Family Vineyard\n\n\nInnovative Hospitality Solutions\, Inc.\n\n\n\n\n\nWine Collector\n\n\n\nAshton Pools by Design\nDan and Kathy Dugan\nBill & Helen Stimson\n\n\nAdam Chesia “The Wine Guy”\nPat & Greg Schulze\n\n\n\n\n\nWine Enthusiast\n\n\n\nDale and Todd Cochran\nKeen Compressed Gas Co.\nCharles S. SUMMARY:Highmark Virtual Walk
DESCRIPTION:MAKE A DIFFERENCE ONE STEP AT A TIME \n  \nJoin Meals on Wheels Delaware and “Virtually” Walk for a Healthy Community and our Homebound Seniors! \nThe Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is an annual fundraising walk that benefits local health and human service agencies. Meals on Wheels Delaware is excited to participate. Now more than ever it is crucial to keep our healthy homebound seniors in the comfort of their own home. Join our team or create your own team and participate in the effort to end senior hunger. \nWhen and Where: \n\nA virtual walk is a real walk\, but it’s on your terms! Anytime between May 9 and July 15\, you choose how and when you walk (treadmill\, park or trail\, or around the neighborhood). It’s your choice! You also pick the time when you start and stop!\n\nParticipation: \n\n$15 minimum to receive a T-shirt.\nOne raffle ticket for every $50 raised.\nShare your participation and the online donation link with your network and encourage your family and friends to donate or join the team.\n\nSign Up: \nClick here to register as an individual or to create a team \n  \nContact:\nRegina Dodds with questions at rdodds@mealsonwheelsde.org | 302.656.6451 \n  \n  \nAbout the virtual walk: \nOut of an abundance of caution and for the protection and safety of our Walk participants and volunteers\, the difficult decision has been made to modify the 2020 Highmark Walks for a Healthy Community to an online-only fundraiser and virtual walk for this year’s campaign. This modification ensures that our participating organizations are still able to fundraise\, via our online platform\, while not putting participants at risk of further spread of the COVID-19 virus in a mass gathering situation. This change is also in accordance with the CDC’s recommendation of social distancing and avoiding mass gatherings. \nParticipation Fee: \n\nThis year to keep up the momentum of individual fundraising\, we have lowered the minimum amount raised to receive a T-shirt to $15 before June 30\, 2020. (The previous amount was $30.) T-shirts will be distributed to organizational leaders in July.\nWe will continue to offer one raffle ticket for every $50 raised. Raffle chances are tracked online within the individual walker milestone trackers on the Luminate online system. All donations must be credited to the individual walker account by the walk organization by June 30\, 2020. Prizes will be distributed in July.
